About us

The library in „The Research Centre for Eastern and South Eastern Europe“ is a joint institution of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies and the Institut für Ostrecht. Its collections consist of publications on history, economy, law, politics, philologies (Slavic, Romanian, Finnougristics, Albanian), regional studies, cultural history and church history of all Eastern European countries. With a collection of approximately 340.000 items the library is the largest library in Regensburg after the university library and the Staatliche and belongs to the most important libraries with focus on Eastern and South Eastern Europe. It is a reference library which provides the possibility of borrowing over the weekend. During the decades of their existence the institutes systematically acquired a precious collection. A great number of current periodicals is available for the user. The library takes part in various co-operations, for example two internet portals, sponsored by the DFG, osmikon and the International Relations and Area Studies Gateway (IREON).
